James (Jim) Van Epps joined Airlines for America in April of 2020. He is currently the Managing Director of Cargo Customs, Security and Facilitation and responsible for partnering with various regulatory agencies and associations across the air cargo industry and supporting the domestic and international interests of A4A’s member airlines. He has been in the airline industry for over 23 years and currently manages the A4A Cargo Council and its subsidiary working groups in Customs and Security to identify emerging issues, develop consensus industry positions and proposed solutions, influence policy development, and efficient implementation of cargo regulatory initiatives. He serves as vice-chair of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Cargo Customs Working Group (CCWG) and is a member of the IATA Cargo Security Working Group (CSWG) and serves on the Aviation Security Advisory Committee (ASAC) Air Cargo Subcommittee.

Prior to joining A4A he has held various compliance and operational leadership roles for both passenger and cargo operations at United Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and Delta Air Lines.
